What is Global Estrela Community "GEC"?
The GEC was founded in 2004, during the Estrela seminar hosted by the Swedish Estrela Club.

Background
During all the years that the breed has presided outside Portugal, the breeders, within different countries, has done most of the work on there own.

Little or no co working has taken place. The breed has today a small but dedicated group of people working very hard to put the breed on the map.
Purpose
The purpose of this seminar was to try and bring the breeders/estrela lovers closer together, and to help making it easier to reach our common goals.

It was also the hope that this seminar would not only be the beginning of many seminars to come but also a beginning of a continental estrela "board" of sorts. A board that estrela breeders/lovers can turn to in different situations, to get help to collect the majority of the Estrela fans,
in order to get results faster and easier "out there".

A stunning 100% of the persons attending was in favor, it was also asked that this should be our first ever meeting, all agreed.
On this first meeting there were people attending from all parts of Europe, namely; Sweden, Finland, Holland, UK, (Portugal - via net).

So now came the question(s), where to hold meetings, how can one apply to become a member, who can become a member, member fee
and most importantly what will the GEC work with/stand for and so forth.

FAQ:
Where to hold meetings: During major events that can host large amounts on people
such as; World dog shows, European winner shows, Winner shows, Crufts, and so forth.

How to apply to become a member: Simply show up on meetings!

Who can become a member: EVERYONE with interest for the Cão da Serra da Estrela.

Member fee: None!

Board: "None", Meeting Chairman will be elected during the actual meeting, Secretary was voted (Linda Sjötun) so the GEC can keep
track of future meetings, post info on website and generally organize.

What can/will the GEC work with/stand for: The GEC will work to improve the situation (what ever that might be)
for the Cão da Serra da Estrela in the world.
